Ferruccio Furlanetto at the Opera Academy of California

During his summer performances as Attila in San Francisco Ferruccio Furlanetto participated in the “Meet the Artist” event organized by Artistic Director of the Opera Academy of California Yefim Maizel. Ferruccio Furlanetto in a sincere talk with the students recollected his long great career and answered questions. The video and photos of the event were generously provided by Mr. Maizel to share on this site.

Stephen Smoliar impressions of the event, published in the The Examiner: “Last night I was fortunate enough to be allowed to sit in on a “Meet the Artist” event arranged by Yefim Maizel for his Opera Academy of California (OAC) students. The artist in question was the bass Ferruccio Furlanetto, currently performing the title role in Giuseppe Verdi’s Attila with the San Francisco Opera. Furlanetto gave a clear and informative account of his journey from his first vocal studies to the current state of his career activities. Much of that journey involved the operas of Mozart with librettos in Italian by Lorenzo Da Ponte, particularly Don Giovanni, in which he has sung both the title role and Leporello. The remainder of the journey seemed to be occupied primarily with Verdi.”
