In between his performances in “Simon Boccanegra” at the Vienna State Opera Ferruccio Furlanetto participated in several public events held in his appreciation. The Friends of Vienna Staatsoper organized a Talk show with him moderated by Gunther Strahlegger and broadcasted live on the Stephan’s Dom Radio.
The interesting and informative conversation with the singer were held in Italian and German language and lasted for two hours. The members of The Friends of Vienna Staatsoper and public (who bought tickets for this event) greeted Ferruccio Furlanetto enthusiastically when he stepped in the Mahler Saal of Vienna Staatsoper after the Figaro’s cavatina. Ferruccio Furlanetto’s debut at the House at the Ring was in “Le Nozze di Figaro” in Jean-Pierre Ponnelle production in 1985. Since then he sang 17 different parties on this stage, some of them were presented as a musical extracts during the meeting as well as “South Pacific” and “Winterreise” – the works of recent years which raised great interest in the press and among the public.

Around Winterreise: Meeting at Doblinger
On August 21 the long anticipated Ferruccio Furlanetto’s Austrian debut with “Winterreise” will happen during Carintische Sommer Festival (Ossiach). The program was recorded at Prestige Classics Vienna in the spring of 2011 as highly appreciated by the press and raised great interest among the public. So it was obvious that during “Simon Boccanegra” performances long awaited CD presentation was held at respected Vienna publishing house Doblinger. It was a long and informative talking event moderated by Renate Publig, who interviewed Ferruccio Furlanetto about his work on the circle.
Actually it seems that in Vienna in these days almost everybody was speaking about Ferruccio Furlanetto’s Schubert’s interpretation and wondering when the Vienna debut with this circle will happen. This matter was also raised during another meeting with Friends of Vienna Staatsoper and in TV program “Cultural Highlights” at ATV.

Ferruccio Furlanetto at the Manhattan School of Music
The most notable of Ferruccio Furlanetto’s public appearances during his performances at the Met was his meeting with the students and teachers at the Manhattan School of Music where in an interesting and witty chat with the moderator of the event Dona D. Vaughn, Artistic Director, Opera program the famous singer shared his artistic and personal experience and answered questions from the audience.
The conversation went around professional matters and started from the beginning of Mr.Furlanetto’s career.
There was a lot of interesting and not at all easy quiestions from the host of the evening Dona D.Vaughn about studying, professional choices (had he ever made wrong decisions) and professional experience. The answers were sincere, extremely intelligent and full of wit. The audience sometimes burst with laughter and was completely captivated and charmed by human side of their guest.
